Abstract
Described is the use of 1(3H)-isobenzofuranone having the structure: ##STR1## in augmenting, enhancing or imparting aromas in or to perfume compositions, colognes and perfumed articles.

A cologne consisting essentially of water, ethanol and an aroma imparting quantity of the 1(3H)-isobenzofuranone having the structure:

A process for augmenting or enhancing the aroma of a consumable material selected from the group consisting of perfume compositions, perfumed articles and colognes comprising the step of intimately admixing with a perfume base, perfumed article base or a cologne base an aroma augmenting, enhancing or imparting quantity of the 1(3H)-isobenzofuranone having the structure:
