Abstract
The present invention discloses azeotropic or azeotrope-like compositions which include HCl that can be employed in a distillation or an extractive distillation process for separating HCl from pentafluoroethane, chloropentafluoroethane, chlorotrifluoroethane, trifluoromethane, and other fully saturated and unsaturated fluorocarbons, chlorofluorocarbons and chlorocarbons.
Claims3
An azeotropic or azeotrope-like composition consisting essentially of about 0.1 to 5 mole % chloropentafluoroethane and about 95 to 99.9 mole % HCl wherein said composition has a boiling point that ranges from about -50.degree. C. at about 75 psia to about 25.degree. C. at about 690 psia.
The composition of claims or 2 wherein the vapor pressure of the composition is greater than HCl or chloropentafluoroethane.
