Abstract
The isolation, identification and production by recombinant methods of bone calcification factor, a 22 KD polypeptide, are disclosed. The peptide has calcification-inducing activity when implanted with matrix Gla protein into mammals.
Claims24
An isolated DNA fragment comprising the nucleotide sequence substantially as shown in FIG. 1E.
An isolated DNA fragment comprising the nucleotide sequence substantially as shown in FIG. 1F.
A method for producing a recombinant polypeptide that comprises an amino acid sequence as shown in FIG. 1C, comprising the steps of:
- (a) constructing a vector that comprises the DNA fragment according to claim 8,
- (b) transforming a host cell with said vector, and
- (c) culturine the resultant transformed cell under conditions to express the peptide encoded by said DNA fragment.
An isolated DNA molecule comprising the nucleotide sequence substantially as shown in FIG. 1A and 1B or a fragment thereof, wherein said fragment is at least about 18 bases in length.
