Abstract
A pharmaceutical formulation for intraduodenal administration comprising at least one phamacologically active agent, with limited solubility in water and is dispersed in an aqueous carrier. According to the invention, the active agent has a particle size not exceeding 20 .mu.m, and the aqueous carrier has a viscosity of at least 300 mPas, measured at a moderate shear rate.

In a method for intraduodenal administration of a pharmaceutical formulation, the improvement consisting essentially of the step of administering intraduodenally a pharmaceutical formulation comprising at least one pharmacologically active agent which has a low solubility in water and which is suspended in an aqueous carrier, characterized in that said active agent has a particle size not exceeding 20 .mu.m, and that said carrier has a viscosity of at least 300 mPas, as measured at a moderate shear rate.
