An overload relay, and an overload relay control circuit power source are disclosed herein. The overload relay includes an electronic trip circuit, a contactor such as a three-phase contactor, a current transformer associated with each power conductor coupled to the contactor, and a transformer associated with the contactor. The current transformers are coupled to the control circuit which controls the supply of power to the solenoid of the contactor based upon the level of current flowing in the power conductors connected to the contactor. The solenoid of the contactor is connected to at least one power conductor and maintains the contacts closed when the solenoid is energized. The transformer is magnetically coupled to the windings of the solenoid and produces the power required by the control circuit when the solenoid is energized and the contacts of the contactor are closed.
In a device for interrupting the flow of current in at least one power conductor, the device including an electronic control circuit and a contactor having a solenoid for opening at least one contact where the solenoid is energized when the contact is closed and current flows through the power conductor when the contact is closed, a current transformer consisting essentially of one winding magnetically coupled to a conductor, said conductor providing operating power to the solenoid, the solenoid being connected in series with the current transformer, the winding of the transformer being coupled to the control circuit to provide power to the control circuit, the control circuit determining when to open the one contact.
A device for interrupting the current flow in an electrical power conductor comprising:
An overload relay operable to apply electric power to a motor from first, second and third power conductors coupled to a three-phase power supply, the relay comprising:
