Cycloalkltriols containing cyclic substituents, processes and intermediate products for their preparation and their use as antiviral and antiparasitic agents

A pharmaceutical composition containing at least one compound of the Formulas VIIa or VIIIa:

• ##STR12## wherein R.sup.5 is hydrogen n is 1 or 2 and A is
• adenin-9-yl,
• adenin-3-yl,
• {N.sup.6 -(N-methyl-2-pyrrolidin-yliden)}adenin-9-yl,
• adenin-N.sup.1 -Oxid-9-yl,
• hypoxanthin-9-yl
• 6-chlorpurin-9-yl,
• 6-chlorpurin-7-yl,
• adenin-7-yl,
• 6-(2,2-diphenyl-ethylamino)-purin-9-yl,
• 2,6-diaminopurin-9-yl,
• 2-amino-6-mercapto-purin-9-yl
• 2-aminopurin-9-yl,
• guanin-9-yl,
• guanin-7-yl,
• N.sup.2 -acetyl-6-O-di-phenylcarbamoyl-guanin-7-yl,
• N.sup.6 -acetyl-adenin-9-yl,
• 2-acetamido-6-ethoxy-purin-9-yl, or
• N.sup.6 -methyl-adenin-9-yl;
• and
• when n is 2, N can also be 2-amino-6-chloro-purin-9-yl;
• or a physiologically tolerated salt of said compound, together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
