Abstract
Human paraoxonase enzyme and DNA (RNA) encoding such paraoxonase enzymes are disclosed. Also provided is the procedure for producing such polypeptides by recombinant techniques. Uses of such polypeptides include their use as an antidote for organophosphate poisoning and to prevent neuronal cell death.
Claims30
An isolated polynucleotide comprising a polynucleotide having at least a 95% identity to a member selected from the group consisting of:
- (a) a polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO:2;
- (b) a polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide comprising amino acid 25 to amino acid 356 as set forth in SEQ ID NO:2;
- (c) a polynucleotide which is complementary to the polynucleotide of (a);
- and
- (d) a polynucleotide which is complementary to the polynucleotide of (b).
