Abstract
A process for the continuous production of a granular detergent composition comprising: (a) pregranulating at least 40% by weight of a mixture of solid and liquid detergent components, based on the total weight of the solid and liquid cleaning components, in a first low-speed mixer/granulator having mixing tools contained therein, to form a pregranulated detergent mixture; and (b) granulating the pregranulated detergent mixture in a second high-speed mixer/granulator to form a final granular detergent composition.
Claims14
A process for the continuous production of a granular detergent composition comprising:
- (a) pregranulating for a period of from 0.5 to 10 minutes at least 40% by weight of a mixture of solid and liquid detergent components, based on the total weight of said solid and liquid cleaning components, in a first low-speed mixer/granulator having mixing tools contained therein operating at a peripheral speed of from 4 m/s to 5 m/s to form a pregranulated detergent mixture;
- and
- (b) granulating for a period of from 0.1 to 30 seconds said pregranulated detergent mixture in a second high-speed mixer/granulator operating at a peripheral speed of from 12 m/s to 30 m/s to form a final granular detergent composition wherein the percentage of granules having a diameter larger than 2 mm is less than 25% by weight of said composition.
