Abstract
Disclosed are a novel class of antiandrogenic compounds including saturated and unsaturated fatty acids, catechin gallates, their derivatives, and synthetic analogs, their method of synthesis, and their use in treating disorders associated with androgenic activities. Also disclosed is the use of known compounds not previously known for their antiandrogenic activity in treating disorders related to androgenic activities and cancers.
Claims8
A method of reducing weight in an animal comprising administering to the animal an amount of a compound in a pharmaceutically acceptable vehicle, the compound having the structure ##STR6## and isomers thereof where n=1 or 2;
- R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are :independently H, halogen, lower alkyl, OH, or OR.sub.3, where R.sub.3 is lower alkyl, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
A method of arresting or reducing prostate cancer cell growth comprising treating an animal having or susceptible to prostate tumor growth with a pharmaceutically acceptable composition that includes epigallocatechin-3-gallate.
