Abstract
A pneumatic tire having a tread composed of a matrix rubber, a low hardness rubber powder, hollow particulates, and short fibers, and optionally a liquid polymer, wherein the low hardness rubber powder has an average particle size of less than 1000 .mu.m, including or not including no more than 20 parts by weight of carbon per 100 parts by weight of the rubber component in the low hardness rubber powder, and is contained in an amount of 1 to 10 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the matrix rubber, the hollow particulates have an average particle size of 10 to 120 .mu.m and an average thickness of 0.1 to 15 .mu.m, and the short fibers have an aspect ratio (ratio of length/diameter) of 10 to 1000.
Claims4
A pneumatic vehicle tire comprising a tread composed of:
- (a) 100 parts by weight of a matrix rubber;
- (b) 1 to 10 parts by weight of a low hardness rubber powder having an average particle size of 10 to 400 .mu.m and containing 20 parts by weight or less of carbon black per 100 parts by weight of the rubber powder;
- (c) 0.5 to 5 parts by weight of hollow particles having an average particle size of 10 to 120 .mu.m and an average wall thickness of 0.1 to 15 .mu.m;
- (d) 1 to 15 parts by weight of short fibers having an average diameter of 0.05 .mu.m or more, an average length of 1 to 5000 .mu.m and an aspect ratio of 10 to 1000, said fibers being selected from the group consisting of polyamide short fibers, cellulose short fibers, carbon short fibers and polyester short fibers;
- and
- (e) 5 to 50 parts by weight of a liquid polymer having a weight-average molecular weight of 6,000 to 60,000.
