Abstract
The present invention relates to a novel compound having a 12-lipoxygenase inhibitory effect, of the general formula (I), a precursor thereof, and a medicine containing the same, ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom or a hydroxy group; one of R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 represents a hydrogen atom, while the other cyano group ; and Ar is a group represented by the following general formula (a), (b) or (c), ##STR2## wherein R.sup.4 represents a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group, a lower alkoxy group, a halogen atom, a thrifluoromethyl group or a cyano group.
Claims15
A compound of the formula:
- ##STR198## wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen or hydroxy;
- R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are different and each is hydrogen or cyano;
- and
- R.sup.4 is lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, halogen or triflouoromethyl.
A method for inhibiting 12-lipoxgenase comprising contacting 12-lipoxgenase with of a compound of the formula:
- ##STR199## wherein R.sup.1 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and hydroxy;
- R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are different and each is hydrogen or cyano;
- and
- R.sup.5 is lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, halogen, trifluoromethyl or nitro.
A compound of the formula:
- ##STR200## wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen or OZ;
- R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are different and each is hydrogen or cyano;
- R.sup.5 is lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, halogen, trifluoromethyl or nitro;
- R.sup.6 is a straight-chain C.sub.1-20 alkyl group, a branched-chain C.sub.1-20 alkyl group, straight-chain C.sub.1-20 alkenyl group, or branched-chain C.sub.1-20 alkenyl group;
- and
- Z is independently hydrogen or a group represented by the following formula 3:
- ##STR201## wherein none of Z are hydrogen atoms at the same time.
A compound of the formula:
- ##STR202## wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen or hydroxy,
- R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are different and each is hydrogen or cyano;
- and
- Ar is naphthyl.
