Abstract
An air cleaner construction including a precleaner arrangement, a filter assembly and a scavenger arrangement is provided. In the precleaner arrangement, air directed into the air cleaner assembly is subjected to some particulate removal. The air from the precleaner arrangement is then directed into the filter assembly, for further particulate material. The scavenger arrangement is constructed and arranged to scavenge separated particulate material from both the precleaner arrangement and the filter assembly. A pulse jet cleaner assembly is provided to facilitate removal of particulate material from the filter assembly.
Claims19
An air cleaner construction comprising:
- (a) a precleaner arrangement constructed and arranged for directing of air flow therethrough and for selected separating of particulate material from air flow directed therethrough before the air flow is directed outwardly from said precleaner arrangement;
- (b) a filter assembly constructed and arranged to receive selected air flow from said precleaner arrangement and to direct same through a filter arrangement;
- (i) said filter arrangement including a housing having sidewalls;
- (ii) said filter arrangement including at least two filter packs therein, said at least two filter packs comprising a first filter pack and a second filter pack separated by an intermediate wall panel;
- and,
- (c) a scavenger arrangement constructed and arranged to selectively withdraw separated particulate material from both of said precleaner arrangement and said filter assembly;
- said scavenger arrangement including:
- (i) a first perforated scavenger duct having:
- a first set of scavenger apertures therein oriented to collect particulate material from a space between said first filter pack and said intermediate wall panel;
- and, a second set of scavenger apertures oriented to collect particulate material from a space between said second filter pack and said intermediate wall panel;
- and,
- (ii) a second perforated scavenger duct having a set of scavenger apertures therein oriented to collect particulate material from a space between said first filter pack and one of said housing sidewalls, and along an opposite side of said first filter pack from said intermediate wall panel.

An air cleaner construction comprising:
- (a) a precleaner arrangement constructed and arranged for directing of air flow therethrough and for selected separating of particulate material from air flow directed therethrough before the air flow is directed outwardly from said precleaner arrangement;
- (b) a filter assembly constructed and arranged to receive selected air flow from said precleaner arrangement and to direct same through a filter arrangement;
- (i) said filter arrangement including a housing having a bottom wall and four sidewalls;
- said housing bottom wall and four sidewalls defining a housing interior;
- (ii) said filter arrangement including a first filter pack having:
- a first filter panel;
- a second filter panel;
- a first end;
- and, a second end;
- said first filter pack having said first and second filter panels oriented in a V-configuration and diverging from one another along a direction of extension from said first end to said second end to form a clean air space in said first filter pack and between said first end second filter panels;
- said first filter pack including a clean air exit therefrom, in said second end of said first filter pack;
- (c) means for sealing said first filter pack second end to a first of said housing sidewalls such that said clean air exit in said first filter pack is in air flow communication with an air exit aperture in said first housing sidewall;
- and,
- (d) a scavenger arrangement constructed and arranged to selectively withdraw separated particulate material from both of said precleaner arrangement and said filter assembly;
- said scavenger arrangement including a first perforated scavenger duct;
- (i) said first scavenger duct including a first perforated section positioned within said housing interior and on said housing bottom wall;
- (ii) said first scavenger duct first perforated section including scavenger flow perforations positioned above said housing bottom wall;
- (iii) said first scavenger duct first perforated section being oriented between said first filter pack and one of said housing sidewalls;
- and,
- (iv) said scavenger duct first perforated section extending along a longitudinal direction of extension generally analogous to a direction of extension from said first filter pack first end to said first filter pack second end.
