Engineered pumping segment

A fluid conducting segment for infusing fluids to a patient and for use with a fluid pump that acts on the segment for controlled fluid flow to the patient, the segment comprising:

• a pumping portion;
• a fluid regulation;
• a pressure interfacing portion;
• a base having a first open end and a second open end, said first and second open ends each adapted to connect with conventional tubing, a groove extending along the length of said base between the open ends, and a fluid controlled region;
• a membrane having an upper surface and a lower surface, said upper and lower surfaces each having a central planar region, and a pressure vessel extending a predetermined distance from said upper surface;
• a cover having a pressure vessel aperture, a pumping aperture and a fluid regulation aperture;
• said membrane being disposed between said base and said cover;
• said base and said membrane defining a fluid flow channel placing said first open end in fluid communication with said second open end;
• and
• a sliding flow controller adapted to longitudinally travel along a portion of said base, said sliding flow controller engaging the membrane with the control region of the base to control the flow of fluid through the segment.

A fluid conducting segment for infusing fluids to a patient and for use with a flow control device that acts on the segment for controlled fluid flow to the patient, the segment comprising:

• a body having:
• a pumping portion;
• a fluid regulation portion;
• a pressure sensor interfacing portion;
• an input port;
• an output port;
• and
• a slider mounted to said body portion;
• wherein said slider engages said fluid regulation portion for providing variable flow control.

A fluid conducting segment for use with a fluid pump that acts as the segment for controlled fluid flow to a patient, the segment comprising:

• a rigid body portion having:
• a pumping portion;
• a fluid regulation portion;
• a pressure sensor interfacing portion;
• an input port;
• and
• an output port;
• wherein said ports are in axial alignment.

A fluid conducting segment for use with a fluid pump that acts as the segment for controlled fluid flow to a patient, the segment comprising:

• a rigid body portion having:
• a pumping portion;
• a fluid regulation portion;
• a pressure sensor interfacing portion;
• an input port;
• and
• an output port;
• wherein said ports are located at opposing ends of said body.
