Abstract
Metallic surgical implant materials having improved strength of connection with bone are produced when the implants are treated prior to implantation with an aqueous solution of sodium fluoride.
Claims22
A process for treating a metallic surgical implant prior to implantation, which implant is not coated with a calcium phosphate coating, comprising treating a metallic surface of said implant with an aqueous solution containing sodium fluoride, which solution is of pH 2.5 to pH 6.
