Abstract
A supply voltage detect circuit is described which generates a control signal indicating the status of VCC to be at 5.0 or 3.3 volts. This control signal is used to generate analog reference signals used by A/D and/or D/A circuitry in an audio processing integrated circuit and by other circuitry to control clock frequencies or current drive.
Claims1
An analog reference voltage generator system for controlling a full scale voltage reference level for a A/D and D/A converter circuit, comprising:
- a) a supply voltage detect circuit, having an input and an output, wherein a supply voltage (VCC) is connected to said input and a VCC control signal is provided at said output;
- b) an internal analog voltage reference circuit, comprising:
- an internal reference voltage generation circuit, wherein said VCC control signal is input to said internal reference voltage generation circuit;
- wherein an analog reference voltage signal is output from said reference voltage generation circuit;
- wherein said analog reference voltage signal is at a first voltage level where VCC is equal to about 5.0 volts and is at a second voltage level where VCC is equal to about 3.3 volts;
- c) a bandgap reference generation circuit, wherein said analog reference voltage signal is input to said bandgap reference generator circuit, wherein a voltage gap reference signal is output from said bandgap reference generator circuit, wherein the difference between said voltage gap reference signal voltage level and said analog reference voltage signal voltage level is essentially constant, where VCC is equal to about 5.0 or 3.3 volts;
- d) a trim circuit, wherein said VCC control signal is input to said trim circuit, wherein said voltage gap reference signal is input to said trim circuit, wherein said analog reference voltage signal is input to said trim circuit, wherein a positive trim reference signal is output from said trim circuit, and wherein said positive trim reference signal is at a first voltage level where VCC is equal to about 5.0 volts and is at a second voltage level where VCC is equal to about 3.3 volts;
- wherein a negative trim reference signal is output from said trim circuit, wherein said negative trim reference signal is at a first voltage level where VCC is equal to about 5.0 volts and is at a second voltage level where VCC is equal to about 3.3 volts;
- wherein the difference between said positive trim reference signal voltage level and said analog reference voltage signal level is equal to a constant K.sub.1, where VCC is equal to about 3.3 volts, and is equal to a constant K.sub.2, where VCC is equal to about 5.0 volts, where K.sub.1 <K.sub.2 ;
- wherein the difference between said negative trim reference signal voltage level and said analog reference voltage signal level is equal to -K.sub.1, where VCC is equal to about 3.3 volts, and is equal to -K.sub.2, where VCC is equal to about 5.0 volts, where .vertline.K.sub.1 .vertline.<.vertline.K.sub.2 .vertline.;
- and
- wherein said positive trim reference signal or said negative trim reference signal is provided to an A/D and/or a D/A converter circuit.
