Method and apparatus for printing a color filter ink pattern

A apparatus for printing a multi-color ink pattern on the surface of a substrate comprising;

• a. series of ink receiving surfaces in which each surface has a pattern that is unique to one of the colors in the multicolor pattern,
• b. a supply of a radiation-curable ink for each patterned surface,
• c. a collector roll,
• d. means to advance the collector roll each patterned surface to receive an ink pattern,
• e. a source of radiation so positioned to be capable of curing the ink pattern during deposition to the substrate.

A method of printing a multi-color ink pattern on a substrate surface comprising:

• p1 arranging a series of patterned surfaces;
• p1 supplying to each of the patterned surfaces a radiation-curable ink formulation, each patterned surface receiving a different colored ink;
• p1 transferring individually the colored ink pattern from each patterned surface to a collector roll to form a composite multi-colored ink pattern thereon;
• and p1 transferring the multicolored pattern in a single step from the collector roll directly to a glass substrate.
