Abstract
A composite ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene microporous membrane is provided having cation exchange capacity. The membrane is useful for removing metal ions from acidic aqueous solutions.
Claims24
An ion exchange composite membrane comprising a microporous matrix of UHMW-PE and water swellable particles of an ion exchange resin having a particle size between about 3 and about 50 microns, said particles comprising between about 50 and about 95 weight percent of said composition, said matrix retaining its microporous property when immersed in an aqueous liquid.
