Abstract
A liquid crystal image display unit created on a substrate non-transparent to the light in the visible radiation area, characterized in that a portion beneath a liquid crystal pixel part on said substrate is removed, so that the light is made transmissive through said liquid crystal pixel part.
Claims11
A liquid crystal display, comprising:
- an insulating layer, an epitaxial semiconductor layer disposed on one side of said insulating layer and a monocrystalline semiconductor layer disposed on another side of said insulating layer, said liquid crystal display further comprising a pixel portion and a driving circuit provided outside said pixel portion, wherein said pixel portion comprises switching elements and said switching elements and said driving circuit are provided within said epitaxial semiconductor layer;
- and
- wherein said monocrystalline semiconductor layer is provided only on areas of said insulating layer other than beneath said pixel portion.
