Abstract
Compounds having the formula ##STR1## wherein --OR.sup.1 comprises the C-13 side-chain of taxol and R.sup.3 comprises hydrogen, as well as a method for the preparation thereof.

A compound having the formula ##STR10## wherein R.sup.1 is a group having the formula ##STR11## in which R.sup.8 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, phenyl, substituted phenyl, alkoxy, substituted alkoxy, amino, substituted amino, phenoxy and substituted phenoxy;
- R.sup.9 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, aminoalkyl, phenyl and substituted phenyl;
- and R.sup.10 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkanoyl, substituted alkanoyl and aminoalkanoyl;
- R.sup.2, R.sup.5 and R.sup.7 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, alkanoyl and aminoalkanoyl;
- R.sup.4 is hydrogen;
- R.sup.3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl and aminoalkanoyl;
- and
- R.sup.6 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, alkanoyl, aminoalkanoyl and phenylcarbonyl.
A compound having the formula ##STR13## wherein R.sup.1 is a group having the formula ##STR14## in which R.sup.8 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, phenyl, substituted phenyl, alkoxy, substituted alkoxy, amino, substituted amino, phenoxy and substituted phenoxy;
- R.sup.9 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, aminoalkyl, phenyl and substituted phenyl;
- and R.sup.10 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkanoyl, substituted alkanoyl and aminoalkanoyl;
- R.sup.2, R.sup.5 and R.sup.7 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, alkanoyl and aminoalkanoyl;
- R.sup.4 is hydrogen;
- R.sup.6 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, alkanoyl, aminoalkanoyl and phenylcarbonyl;
- and
- R.sup.3, taken together with one of R.sup.2 and R.sup.4, may form a ring having the formula ##STR15## in which R.sup.11 and R.sup.12 are chosen such that (i) each is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, phenyl and substituted phenyl;
- (ii) taken together, R.sup.11 and R.sup.12 are a single atom selected from the group consisting of oxygen and sulfur;
- or (iii) one of R.sup.11 and R.sup.12 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, phenyl and substituted phenyl, and the other is --OR.sup.13 or --NR13R.sup.14 where R.sup.13 and R.sup.14 are independently selected from the group consisting of alkyl, alkanoyl, substituted alkanoyl, phenyl and substituted phenyl.
