Abstract
A .pi.-allylnickel/counterion complex is reacted with a hologenated ketone to produce a highly active polymerization initiator.
Claims9
A process of forming a polymer comprising reacting a .pi.-allylnickel/counterion complex having the structure:
- ##STR5## with a hologenated ketone additive having the structure:
- ##STR6## and a polymerizable monomer;
- where in structure (1), X is a counterion, and in structure (2), R and R' are selected from the group consisting of carbon, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, wherein said alkyl group may be unsaturated;
- Y and Y' are halogens;
- and n is an integer from 1 to 3.
