Stabilized, chlorine-containing polymer compositions

A composition comprising a chlorine-containing polymer and a stabiliser mixture comprising:

• a) at least one tin alcoholam or tin carboxylate of the formula
• [(R.sub.2).sub.2 Sn(OR')].sub.2 O (Ia);
• [(R.sub.2)Sn(OR').sub.2 ].sub.2 O (Ib);
• (R.sub.2)Sn(OR')O (Ic);
• [-(R.sub.2)Sn(OR')O--].sub.m (Id);
• [-(R.sub.1 CO.sub.2 Sn(R.sub.2).sub.2 ].sub.2 O (IIa);
• or
• [-(R.sub.2).sub.2 Sn--O.sub.2 C--R.sub.3 --CO.sub.2 --{(R.sub.2).sub.2 SnO{(R.sub.2).sub.2 SnO}.sub.i -].sub.n (IIb);
• where R' is C.sub.3 -C.sub.24 alkyl, phenyl,
• C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl-substituted phenyl or phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl;
• R.sub.1 is C.sub.3 -C.sub.24 alkyl, phenyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl-substituted phenyl,
• C.sub.5 -C.sub.10 cycloalkyl, phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl or R.sub.4 --O.sub.2 C--CH.dbd.CH--;
• R.sub.2 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.24 alkyl or C.sub.4 -C.sub.18 alkanoyloxyethyl;
• R.sub.3 is phenylene, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl-substituted phenylene, C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkylene or --CH.dbd.CH--
• R.sub.4 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.24 alkyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.10 cycloalkyl, phenyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl-substituted phenyl;
• i is a number greater than or equal to zero;
• m is the number 2 or 3, and
• n is a number greater than or equal to one;
• b) at least one organic zinc carboxylate, zinc phenoxide or a tin chloride of the formula
• [(R.sub.1 CO.sub.2).sub.x (R.sub.2).sub.yCl.sub.z Sn].sub.a O.sub.a-1 (III)
• where R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are as defined under formula (I);
• x and y, independently of one another, are 0, 1 or 2;
• a is the number 1 or 2;
• z is the number 1, 2, 3 or 4,
• with the proviso that x+y+z+a is five;
• and
• c) at least one thiophosphate or thiophosphite of the formula
• (R.sub.6 S).sub.3 P.dbd.X.sub.b (IV)
• where R.sub.6 is C.sub.3 -C.sub.18 alkyl, phenyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl- or R.sub.5 CO.sub.2 -substituted phenyl, C.sub.4 -C.sub.21 alkanoyloxyalkylene, C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkoxycarbonyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkylene, which may be interrupted by oxygen, sulfur or --NR.sub.5 --, phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 alkylenoxycarbonyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkylene, which may be interrupted by oxygen, sulfur or --NR.sub.5 --, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl-substituted phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkylenoxycarbonyl--C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkylene, which may be interrupted by oxygen, sulfur or --NR.sub.5 --, or C.sub.5 -C.sub.15 cycloalkyl-C.sub.0 -C.sub.6 alkyleneoxycarbonyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkylene, which may be interrupted by oxygen, sulfur or --NR.sub.5 --;
• R.sub.5 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl;
• X is oxygen or sulfur, and
• b is the number zero or 1, with the further proviso that the composition does not include a sodium, calcium, magnesium or aluminum salt of a monoalkyl ester of an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid.
