Abstract
Stable aqueous coemulsions of oxidized polyethylene with amino functional silicone fluids which includes at least one constituent selected from the group consisting of; ethoxylated aliphatic amines, ethoxylated nonylphenols, ethoxylated primary alcohols, ethoxylated secondary alcohols or other nonionic emulsifiers are taught, as well as processes for making the same. The coemulsions may also comprise further constituents, including but not limited to fatty acids, ammonium hydroxide, salts and water. The coemulsions find use in conjunction with textile processing and paper processing.
Claims28
An aqueous coemulsion comprising:
- a) water,
- b) at least one oxidized polyethylene and
- c) at least one amino functional silicone,
- wherein said coemulsion is formed by heating said oxidized polyethylene, said amino functional silicone, and said water with agitation through the melt point of said oxidized polyethylene.
An aqueous coemulsion consisting essentially of:
- (a) at least one oxidized polyethylene;
- (b) at least one amino functional silicone:
- and
- (c) water,
- wherein said coemulsion is formed by heating said oxidized polyethylene, said amino functional silicone, and said water with agitation through the melt point of said oxidized polyethylene.
A stable aqueous coemulsion comprising:
- (a) at least one oxidized polyethylene:
- (b) at least one amino functional silicone;
- (c) at least one component selected from the group consisting of ethoxylated aliphatic amines, ethyoxylated octylphenols, ethoxylated nonyl phenols, ethyoxylated primary alcohols, ethoxylated secondary alcohols, or other nonionic emulsifiers;
- and
- (d) water.
- wherein said coemulsion is formed by heating said oxidized polyethylene, said amino functional silicone, said component, and said water with agitation through the melt point of said oxidized polyethylene.
