Abstract
The negative symptoms of schizophrenia and/or low cell membrane levels of EFAs may be treated with a combination of arachidonic acid and docosahexaenoic acid.

A method of treating negative syndrome schizophrenia in a patient identified by the presence of low levels of AA and DHA in cell membranes, by administering to said patient an effective amount of a composition consisting of arachidonic acid (AA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and a pharmacologically carrier or diluent.
