Abstract
A MICR tape allows for the complete release of magnetic material from the tape substrate. This is accomplished by creating a tape with a layered structure including a magnetic layer coated on a polymer layer with a release layer therebetween.
Claims11
A tape for transfer of a layer of magnetic material onto toner images comprising:
- a backing layer;
- a magnetic layer comprising a magnetite and a resin;
- and
- a continuous release layer comprising a polymeric fluorocarbon, and having a thickness of about 100 to about 1000 angstroms for release of the magnetic layer from the backing layer, said release layer positioned between said backing layer and said magnetic layer and adhered to said backing layer by rubbing substantially discrete particles of a material comprising the release layer across a surface of the backing layer.
