Abstract
A method for the pretreatment of fabrics and textiles to impart soil release properties thereto involves contacting the fabrics with homopolymers or copolymers of vinyl ethers.
Claims24
A method for the pretreatment of fabrics and textiles to impart soil release properties thereto, which comprises the step of contacting said fabrics with one or more copolymers comprising:
- (a) from about 90 to about 10% by weight of vinyl ethers,
- (b) from about 10 to about 90% by weight of adducts of C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 alkylene oxides with one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of vinyl ethers and polytetrahydrofuran vinyl ethers;
- (c) from about 0 to about 80% by weight of monomers selected from the group consisting of divinyl ethers, compounds having about 2 or more --OH groups, and mixtures thereof.
