Abstract
The invention provides a fiber optic cable and a diamondoid-based viscous filling material for a fiber optic cable.
Claims8
A fiber optic cable grease comprising a diamondoid component containing at least about 10 different diamondoid compounds selected from the group consisting of methyl-substituted and ethyl-substituted adamantane, diamantane, triamantane, and higher homologs, wherein each of said selected diamondiod compounds comprises no more than about 10 weight percent of said diamondoid component;
- and a second component comprising a thickener selected from the group consisting of colloidal silica, fatty acid soaps, clays, and bentonites which is substantially inert to a fiber optic cable sheath.
