Abstract
A chiral, bidentate organophosphorus ligand containing a dideoxysaccharide used along with zero valent nickel as a catalyst for enantioselective hydrocyanation. The preferred organophosphorus ligand species is phenyl 2,3-bis-O-(3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)phosphine-4,6-O-benzylidene-B-D- glucopyranoside.
Claims9
A chiral, nonracemic, bidentate organophosphorus ligand of the formula:
- (R.sup.1).sub.2 --P--O--R.sup.3 --O--P--(R.sup.1).sub.2
- wherein
- each R.sup.1 is 3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl;
- and
- R.sup.3 is a C.sub.4 to C.sub.40 dideoxycarbohydrate, optionally substituted with one or more hydrocarbyl, halogen, ether, ester, alcohol, amide or ketone groups.
