Abstract
This invention provides a method to therapeutically increase perfusion in a mammal comprising administering stroma-free hemoglobin at a dose ranging from the least amount effective to increase perfusion, up to a dose of about 2500 mg per kilogram of body weight.
Claims9
A method for increasing perfusion in an animal suffering from stroke comprising administering to said animal intramolecularly or intermolecularly cross-linked stroma free hemoglobin in a perfusion-increasing effective amount ranging from 30 mg/kg up to 2,500 mg/kg.
A method for increasing perfusion in an animal suffering from cardiogenic shock comprising administering to said animal intramolecularly or intermolecularly cross-linked stroma free hemoglobin in a perfusion-increasing effective amount ranging from 30 mg/kg up to 2,500 mg/kg.
A method for reducing hypotension in an animal suffering from hypotension secondary to cardiogenic shock comprising administering to said animal an anti-hypotensive effective amount of intramolecularly or intermolecularly crosslinked stroma free hemoglobin within the range of 30 mg/kg to 2,500 mg/kg.
A method for increasing perfusion in an animal suffering from hemorrhagic shock comprising administering to said animal intramolecularly or intermolecularly cross-linked stroma free hemoglobin in a perfusion-increasing effective amount ranging from 100 mg/kg to 2,500 mg/kg.
