Abstract
An improved method for treating Class I histiocytosis, Langerhans cell histiocytosis, is disclosed. In accordance with that method, a therapeutically effective amount of a 2-halo-2'-deoxyadenosine is administered to a host mammal such as a human patient having histiocytosis in an amount of about 0.5 to 0.9 mg/kg of body weight over a course of about 5 to 9 days for up to two courses.
Claims12
A method for treating Class I histiocytosis in a mammal in need thereof comprising administering to said mammal a therapeutically effective dose of a substituted adenine derivative or a pharmacologically acceptable acid addition salt thereof, in an amount of about 0.5 to 0.9 mg/kg of body weight over a course of about 5 to 9 days, said adenine derivative having a structure represented by the formula:
- ##STR5## wherein Y is a halogen, and wherein no more than two courses of treatment are administered.
A method for treating Class I histiocytosis in a human patient comprising administering to said patient a substituted adenine derivative or a pharmacologically acceptable acid addition salt thereof in an amount of about 0.05 to about 0.15 milligrams per kilogram of body weight per day over a course of about 5 to 9 days dissolved or dispersed in a pharmacologically acceptable carrier, said adenine derivative having a structure represented by the formula:
- ##STR6## wherein no more than two courses are administered.
