Abstract
Ferulic acid, vanillic acid, coniferyl alcohol and coniferyl aldehyde can be prepared from eugenol with the aid of a new Pseudomonas species.
Claims1
A process for preparing a compound of the formula:
- ##STR3## wherein R represents --COOH, --CH.dbd.CH--COOH, --CH.dbd.CH--CH.sub.2 OH or --CH.dbd.CH--CHO;
- said process comprising oxidizing eugenol having the formula:
- ##STR4## in the presence of Pseudomonas sp. nov. DSM 7062 or 7063.
