Abstract
A method for treating acute pancreatitis comprising administering an effective amount of Interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1ra) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof to a person afflicted with that condition.

A method for treating acute pancreatitis which comprises administering to a person afflicted with acute pancreatitis an effective amount of Interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1ra) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof wherein the effective amount of IL-1ra administered is from 100 ng/kg body weight to 100 mg/kg body weight of the patient per day.
