Abstract
A golf ball weighing no more than 1.62 ounces and having a mean outside diameter of at least 1.70 inches. The core compression of the ball and the cover hardness are selected so as to provide a finished ball having a P.G.A. compression of 80 or less and a coefficient of restitution from 0.780 to 0.825. The ball includes a dimple pattern covering at least 70.0 % of the surface of the ball.

A golf ball of improved playing characteristics comprising
- a ball having a core and a cover and a mean outside diameter of at least 1.70 inches;
- said ball weighing no more than substantially 1.62 ounces;
- a dimple pattern comprising a plurality of dimples on the surface of said ball, said dimple pattern covering at least 70.0% of the surface of said ball;
- said golf ball having a P.G.A. compression of 80 or less.
