Abstract
A biologically stable kaolin clay slurry is manufactured by heating a kaolin clay slurry for at least 15 minutes at a temperature of at least 93.degree. C., cooling the slurry to a temperature no greater than about 35.degree. C. and then adding a microbiocide to the slurry.
Claims9
A process to reduce microorganisms in a kaolin clay slurry, wherein the process comprises the sequential steps of:
- a. heating the slurry for at least 15 minutes at a temperature of at least 93.degree. C.;
- b. cooling the heated slurry to a temperature no greater than about 35.degree. C.;
- and
- c. adding a microbiocide to the cooled slurry, wherein the amount of microbiocide added is at least 20 ppm, based on the weight of commercial microbiocide product to total slurry weight.
