Abstract
Acetylenic copolymers especially suitable for fabrication of gas and vapor separation membranes are disclosed.
Claims7
A polymeric membrane comprising a copolymer of an aryl-substituted acetylic monomer of Structure I and a bulky group-substituted acetylic monomer of Structure II, wherein Structures I and II are defined as follows:
- Structure I
- A--C.tbd.C--R
- where A is selected from phenyl and phenyl substituted with at least one substituent selected from the group consisting of methyl, ethyl, halogen, --CF.sub.3 and --CF.sub.2 CF.sub.3, and R is selected from ethyl, n-propyl and isopropyl;
- Structure II
- B--C.tbd.C--R'
- where B is --Si(R').sub.3, and R' is an alkyl group having from 1 to 3 carbon atoms.
