Claims2
A method for treating a human with gout which comprises administering to said human a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of the formula ##STR33## and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, wherein ##STR34## with Ar being a R.sub.9 -substituted phenyl, to which its adjacent CH.sub.2 moiety is bonded to one ring carbon atom and the Z moiety is bonded to a second ring carbon atom of the Ar moiety, Z is a moiety selected from the group consisting of ##STR35## wherein n is an integer of 1 to 5 or zero;
- R.sub.1 is --OH or --SH;
- R.sub.2 is H or --NH.sub.2 ;
- R.sub.3 is H, --NH.sub.2, --OH, or --NH--NH.sub.2 ;
- R.sub.4 is H;
- R'.sub.4 is H, OH or F, or R.sub.4 and R'.sub.4, together with the carbon atom to which they are attached, form a keto moiety;
- R.sub.5 is C.sub.1-6 alkyl or H;
- R.sub.6 is C.sub.1-6 alkyl or H;
- R.sub.7 is H, F, or C.sub.1-4 alkyl;
- R.sub.8 is H, F, or C.sub.1-4 alkyl;
- R.sub.9 is H, Cl, Br, C.sub.1-6 alkyl, C.sub.1-6 alkoxy, OH, NH.sub.2 or CH.sub.3 ;
- X and Y are H, F or Cl, with the proviso that when n is zero, X and Y are both H.
