Abstract
A method for reducing the number of contaminative live bacteria in xanthan gum which comprises the step of washing a mixture of 100 parts by weight of water-containing isopropanol having an isopropanol concentration of 50 to 100% by weight and 1 to 100 parts by weight of the xanthan gum under heating conditions.
Claims10
A method for reducing the number of contaminative live bacterial in xanthan gum which comprises the step of washing a mixture of 100 parts by weight of water-containing isopropanol having an isopropanol concentration to 50% to 100% by weight and 1 to 100 parts by weight of particulate xanthan gum having a particle diameter of about 100 .mu.m or less while heating the mixture at a temperature of from about 50.degree. to about 80.degree. C. for a heating time of at least about one hour.
