Abstract
Methods are provided for inhibiting the corrosion of iron and iron-containing metals in contact with aqueous systems. Salicylaldoxime is added to cooling water systems to inhibit the corrosion of these metal surfaces.

A method for inhibiting the corrosion of iron and iron-containing metal surfaces in contact with a cooling water system containing sulfide ions comprising adding a corrosion inhibiting amount of salicyaldoxime to said system.
