Abstract
Disclosed is a memory card and connector assembly which has a spring positioned in recesses in the lateral longitudinal elements of the frame which impart additional forward longitudinal force to the card as the card passes over those recesses to allow the card to be ejected to a distance where it is easily gripped and withdrawn by the user. The invention also includes a method for ejecting a memory card from a computer in which the memory card is first moved forward and out of engagement with the connector to an initial distance after which it is moved still further forward by an automatically activated resilient device. A method of ejecting a memory card by means of this assembly is also disclosed.
Claims25
A memory card connector assembly comprising:
- (a) a frame member having a rear transverse element and a pair of spaced lateral elements extending longitudinally forward from the rear element;
- (b) connector means disposed adjacent the rear element of the frame member;
- (c) means for moving longitudinally forward and out of engagement with the connector means;
- and a memory card positioned between the lateral elements of the frame member and in engagement with the connector;
- (d) stored energy means for moving the memory card still further forward after said memory card has first been moved out of engagement with the connection means.
In a memory card a connector assembly for receiving a memory card in a frame element having a rear transverse element and a pair of spaced lateral elements, a connector means disposed adjacent the rear element of the frame member and means for moving a memory card out of engagement with the connector wherein the improvement comprises stored energy means for moving the memory card longitudinally forward after said memory card has been moved out of engagement with the connection means.
A method for ejecting a memory card positioned between lateral elements of a frame member having a rear transverse element and a pair of spaced lateral elements extending longitudinally therefrom and engaged with a connector means disposed adjacent the rear element of said frame assembly comprising the steps of first moving the memory card forward and out of engagement with the connector and then using resilient means to move the memory card still further forward.
