Abstract
The invention relates to spinning finishes in the form of aqueous emulsions or aqueous solutions containing water-soluble polymer compounds having weight average molecular weights of more than 10.sup.6.
Claims7
An aqueous spinning finish comprising a solution or emulsion containing from 3% to 40% by weight of a composition containing:
- (a) 35% to 95% by weight of at least one smoothing agent selected from the group consisting of mineral oil, esters of C.sub.8-22 carboxylic acids with C.sub.1-22 alkyl alcohols, silicones, polyoxyalkylene glycol having an average molecular weight of 600 to 6,000;
- (b) 0-55% by weight of at least one member selected from the group consisting of emulsifiers, antistatic agents and wetting agents;
- (c) 0-10% by weight of at least one additive selected from the group consisting of pH regulators, filament compacting agents, bactericides and corrosion inhibitors;
- and from 0.0001% to 0.3% by weight of the solution or emulsion of at least one water-soluble polymer compound having a weight average molecular weight of more than 10.sup.6 selected from the group consisting of polyalkylene oxides, polyacrylamides, polymethacrylamides and copolymers of acrylamide or methacrylamide with unsaturated carboxylic acid containing 3 to 5 carbon atoms.
