Abstract
A process for the preparation of a substituted guanidine by reacting a substituted cyanamide with ammonia or a substituted amine in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst. Also disclosed is a process for the preparation of a tri-substituted guanidine by reacting a mono-substituted cyanamide with a di-substituted amine.
Claims2
A process for the preparation of N-(1-naphthyl)-N'-(3-ethylphenyl)-N'-methyl guanidine which comprises the step of reacting a mono-substituted cyanamide R.sup.1 NH--CN with a di-substitute amine R.sup.2 NHR.sup.3, wherein said mono-substituted cyanamide is N-(1-naphthyl)cyanamide and said di-substituted amine is N-methyl-N-(3-ethylphenyl) amine.
