Abstract
Novel poly(B-alkenyl-borazines), such as poly(B-vinyl borazine), are useful as precursors to BN ceramics. The poly alkenylborazines, which may advantageously be soluble and easily processed, are prepared by heat treatment of corresponding B-alkenylborazines, which are themselves novel compounds.
Claims8
A process for preparing substituted borazines comprising, contacting a B-unsubstituted borazine with an alkyne in the presence of a catalytic amount of a transition metal complex containing at least one carbonyl or phosphine ligand, wherein said transition metal is selected from the group consisting of Rh, Ir, and Pd,
- said substituted borazine being mono- or di- B-substituted with an alkenyl group and substituted at each N-atom with hydrogen.
