Abstract
A 4-desoxy-4-epipodophyllotoxin derivative of the following formula ##STR1## wherein R and R.sub.1 are as defined in the specification or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as well as an antitumor composition comprising such derivative or salt as an active ingredient.

A 4-desoxy-4-epipodophyllotoxin derivative of the general formula:
- ##STR82## wherein R.sub.1 is a hydrogen atom, R is a group of the formula --(CH.sub.2).sub.n NR.sub.2 R.sub.3 (where n is an integer of 1 to 4);
- R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are the same or different and each is a hydrogen atom, a group of the formula --N(Ra)(Rb) (where Ra and Rb are the same or different and each is a lower alkyl group) or a lower alkyl group which may be substituted by hydroxy or a group of the formula --N(Rc)(Rd) (where Rc and Rd are the same or different and each is a lower alkyl group);
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
