Abstract
Novel compounds that mimic and/or modulate the activity of wild-type nucleic acids. In general, the compounds contain a selected nucleoside sequence wherein the nucleosides are covalently bound through linking groups that contain adjacent nitrogen atoms.
Claims16
A compound having structure:
- ##STR8## wherein:
- L.sub.1 -L.sub.2 -L.sub.3 -L.sub.4 is CH.sub.2 --O--NR--CH.sub.2, CH.sub.2 --NR--O--CH.sub.2, O--NR--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2, CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --NR--O, CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --O--NR, or NR--O--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 ;
- R is H, alkyl having 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, alkenyl having 2 to about 10 carbon atoms, or alkynyl having 2 to about 10 carbon atoms;
- B.sub.x is a nucleosidic base;
- Q is O, S, CH.sub.2, CHF or CF.sub.2 ;
- n is 1-50;
- X is H, OH, alkyl, F, Cl, Br, CN, CF.sub.3, OCF.sub.3, OCN, O-alkyl, S-alkyl, N-alkyl, O-alkenyl, S-alkenyl, N-alkenyl, SOCH.sub.3, SO.sub.2 CH.sub.3, ONO.sub.2, NO.sub.2, N.sub.3, NH.sub.2, aminoalkylamino, polyalkylamino or substituted silyl, wherein each said alkyl has from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms and each said alkenyl has from 2 to about 10 carbon atoms.
