Abstract

Polyisocyanate based organic aerogels having pore sizes less than 100 nm, densities in the range 10 to 800 kg/m.sup.3 and surface areas in the range 10 to 1500 m.sup.2 /g are provided.

Dependent claims

Polyisocyanate based organic aerogel having pore sizes of less than or equal to 100 nm, wherein said aerogel is selected from the group consisting of polyurethane aerogels, polyurea aerogels, polyisocyanurate aerogels, polyisocyanurate/polyurethane aerogels, polyallophanate aerogels, polybidentate aerogels and polybiuret aerogels.
