Abstract
Polyimides comprising recurring units of the following general formula (1) ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents a tetravalent aromatic group. Polyimide copolymers and preparations of the polyimides and the polyimide copolymers are also described.

A polyimide comprising main recurring units of the following general formula (1) ##STR9## wherein R.sub.1 represents a tetravalent aromatic group.
A polyimide copolymer consisting essentially of recurring units (A) of the following general formula (1) and recurring units (B) of the following general formula (2) ##STR10## wherein each R.sub.1 represents a tetravalent aromatic hydrocarbon group.
