Abstract
The use of hemoglobin-polymer conjugates to enhance antitumor therapy in mammals is disclosed. The methods include administering an effective amount of an antitumor therapy such as radiation in combination with hemoglobin conjugated to a substantially non-antigenic polymer.
Claims29
A method of enhancing the effectiveness of antitumor therapy in mammals, comprising:
- administering to a mammal in need of such therapy an effective amount of radiation in combination with hemoglobin covalently conjugated to a poly(alkylene oxide), said hemoglobin conjugate being present in an amount sufficient to enhance the effectiveness of said radiation.
A method of reducing tumor burden in mammals, comprising administering to a mammal in need of such therapy an effective amount of:
- (a) radiation, optionally in combination with a chemotherapeutic agent in combination with
- (b) hemoglobin covalently conjugated to a polyalkylene oxide, said hemoglobin conjugate being present in amounts sufficient to enhance the effectiveness of said radiation.
