Abstract
A novel pseudoceramide which has improved dispersibility in aqueous solutions and which can be produced by an economical manufacturing process. The process for producing new pseudoceramides and cosmetic compositions containing the new pseudoceramides are also disclosed.
Claims9
A composition for topical application to human skin, hair or nails, the composition comprising:
- a) an effective amount of at least one neoceramide of Formula 1 ##STR18## wherein R.sup.1 is a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated, or hydroxylated aliphatic hydrocarbon group having from 7 to 48 carbon atoms;
- R.sup.2 is a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group having from 7 to 48 carbon atoms;
- R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are the same or different and each is selected from the group consisting of phosphorylethyl amine, phosphorylethyl ammonium chloride, phosphorylethyl ammonium bromide and phosphorylethyl ammonium sulfate;
- and
- b) a cosmetically acceptable vehicle for the neoceramide.
2 more elements
A neoceramide of Formula I:
- ##STR19## wherein R.sup.1 is a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated, or hydroxylated aliphatic hydrocarbon group having from 7 to 48 carbon atoms;
- R.sup.2 is a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated, aliphatic hydrocarbon group having from 7 to 48 carbon atoms;
- R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 each is selected from the group consisting of phosphorylethyl amine, phosphorylethyl ammonium chloride, phosphorylethyl ammonium bromide and phosphorylethyl ammonium sulfate.
