Abstract
The present invention relates to a composition and process for inhibiting fatty spew on leather comprising an oiling component in combination with a Guerbet alcohol having the general formula I: R.sup.1 --CH(CH.sub.2 OH)--R.sup.2 (I) wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, independently of one another represent an alkyl group containing from 6 to 12 carbon atoms, and wherein the total number of carbon atoms per Guerbet alcohol molecule is in the range from 16 to 24.
Claims12
A process for oiling leather comprising contacting a leather substrate with a composition comprising an oiling component in combination with a Guerbet alcohol having a pour point below 6.degree. C. and corresponding to formula I:
- R.sup.1 --CH(CH.sub.2 OH)--R.sup.2 (I)
- wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, independently of one another represent an alkyl group containing from 6 to 12 carbon atoms, and wherein the total number of carbon atoms per Guerbet alcohol molecule is in the range from 16 to 24.
Dependencies are inferred from the claim text.
