Abstract
Aryl halide, such as idodobenzene, is reacted with perfluoromethoxycarboxylate, such as CF.sub.3 OCF.sub.2 CO.sub.2 K, in the presence of CuI and an inert aprotic polar solvent to obtain trifluoromethylaryl.
Claims12
Trifluoromethylation process consisting essentially of contacting and reacting aryl halide selected from the group consisting of aryl iodide and aryl bromide with perfluoromethoxycarboxylate in the presence of cuprous iodide in an inert aprotic polar solvent and obtaining as a result thereof trifluoromethylaryl.
