Abstract
This invention relates to certain azabicyclo hexane intermediates and processes for making and using the azabicyclo hexane intermediates. The intermediates are useful in the synthesis of quinolone antibacterial agents.

A compound of Formula I ##STR10## wherein R is methyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6)alkoxycarbonyl, trityl, benzyl, paramethoxybenzyl, paramethylbenzyl, benzoyl, paramethoxybenzoyl, paramethylbenzoyl, benzyloxycarbonyl, paramethoxybenzyloxycarbonyl or paramethylbenzyloxycarbonyl;
- and
- Q is --C(.dbd.O)R.sub.1 or --C(.dbd.N--R.sub.3)CH.sub.3 wherein R.sub.3 is hydroxy, tolylsulfonyloxy or methylsulfonyloxy and R.sub.1 is amino, hydroxyamino, N,O-dimethyl hydroxyamino, or methyl.
